My real reason for poking in my camera, though, is this.
My grandpa… is not going to be alive for much longer. At all.
My mother wants to make a posterboard so that, when the time comes for a funeral, we can post photos of him on it, and invite family and friends to bring their own photos so they can share as well.
She’s sort of left it up to my sister and I to handle, if we want to. He had an old photograph of himself, from 1940-something (the year is scratched off), and I wanted to paint it… and lo-and-behold, my mother came home today with that photo and a few others in hand.
So I guess I can rest this near the display or… something. I don’t know. I just sat down and did it. The skin tone is flat because I wanted to work with one color (brown/sepia) but then decided on grey for the background. He has blue eyes, so I used grey there too, to stand out without being CREEPY BLUE. He was so handsome… he still has those wonderful eyes…
I’ll post the process in a moment.
